RobotsJeff Stibel recently wrote a Linkedin post about how the artificial intelligence technology featured in the Spike Jonze film Her is not as farfetched as we might have thought.

Imagine living in a world where our computers automatically organized our schedules, knew exactly when we woke up, opened our emails, reacted to our emotions and engaged with us in full conversations. This is a reality in the film Her, where a lonely man falls in love with his operating system.

While many of the features mentioned above are available to us with our current technology (even conversations), what if there was more? What if our technology could think and evolve with its daily interactions?

I’d imagine that humans would see an increase in productivity or that the AI would learn to revolt a la I, Robot, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

What do you all think? Is AI technology key to our productivity or the path to our demise?

Regardless, this technology is very exciting and will probably hit the mainstream sooner than we ever expected. Science Fiction is quickly becoming Science Reality.
