Teens, that coveted, impressionable market, are increasingly going mobile. Your target market isn’t teens? Remember that the habits and styles they establish are often carried with them into adulthood; this includes using mobile to access the internet. It’s imperative to make your business easily available on mobile so you’re ready when they grow into your target market.
The Pew Research Center just released a new report showing that, in 2012, a whopping 78% of teenagers between the ages of 12-17 have a cell phone, and 37% have smartphones (the report notes that 47% of adults have smartphones…think about that). While the cellphone number has virtually not changed since 2011 (77%), smart phone use among teenagers was 23%, denoting a 14% increase from 2011 to 2012.
Additionally, 23% of teens own tablets. 1 in 4 teens use their mobile devices as their primary method of accessing the interent. Mobile is becoming mainstream, with teens picking em up earlier and using them more often, which means they will continue to use them.
